Florida training camp and 2012 update.

Hey guys welcome back to the site. We have been in Florida for the past three weeks since racing in Austin at the Grand Prix.  We are in Key Largo and training at the Founders park pool where the famous race club trains.  The goal of this camp has been focused on individual race prep and each afternoon we focus on a different aspect of our respective races.  The level of demand that it takes to do this specific race prep is intense and requires a large amount of mental focus.  I am really positive about the work we have been doing and I know the group is getting ready to post some very fast swimming in Missouri and Montreal.

Here is the schedule we have been following for the past few weeks with the morning workouts focusing on aerobic threshold and the afternoons on race prep:

Double-double-Single(4 hour circuit)-double-double-day off

The 4 hour workout is circuit based work that focuses on power and stroke endurance at speed.  It was hard to wrap our heads around spending 4 hours straight at the pool, but after the first session was complete we have powered through each session and done a great job.  We had the pleasure of having Matt Rose, former Olympian for Canada, join us in Florida as our physiotherapist.  Matt worked with us during these 4 hour sessions on our core stability and swimming mechanics.  During our last 4 hour session the company Hollister showed up at the pool with about 30 models to shoot posters for their new 2012 line.  We had the pleasure of meeting some of the people in charge and their famous photographer, Bruce Weber after the practice was over.  They seemed to be very intrigued with our unique hair style (swimmer hair) and we are hoping young Alec Page might even get the call up the modeling world.

This time next week we will be heading off to Columbus Missouri for the Missouri Grand Prix.  As a group, our goals for the meet are high as it will be our last real racing situation before Olympic trials in Montreal.  I will be back with more updates from Missouri and our progress into trials in a few weeks.  Until then I hope everyone enjoys this video from our Florida camp and as always please leave your questions and comments on the site.

Great video Stef… I like the overview of the training and the interviews – even Randy making a guest appearance…

Keep it up bud, looks like tough training but what is necessary to reach the top.

That croc (or alligator) is awesome… looks pretty damn big too!
